Peter Goodman, chair of the IBPA Board of Directors and president of Stone Bridge Press, completes his six years of service on the IBPA board in June 2017. In appreciation of his longstanding support of the association, we were privileged to honor him on April 7, 2017, as part of IBPA’s 2017 Annual Meeting of Members, held during Publishing University in Portland, Oregon. In addition to hearing him speak about his vision for ways to improve the retail book-buying environment for consumers, we presented Peter with a commemorative desk clock engraved with the following:
IBPA BOARD SERVICE YEARS: 2011-2017 “Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened.” —Buddha Thank you, Peter, for graciously and unselfishly sharing your light. By all measures, the IBPA community has improved immensely under your watch.
Outgoing IBPA chair, Peter Goodman, with incoming IBPA chair, Rob Price.
It's been an honor to work with and learn from Peter over the three years I’ve been executive director, then CEO of IBPA. As a leader, Peter listens to and tries to understand your vision and goals, then he does all he can to clear a path toward your success—a model to emulate. The gift of appreciation presented to him at the annual meeting was a small, but heartfelt, token of gratitude for all he’s done to support and foster a professional independent publishing community. This is not a goodbye, of course, but a time for congratulations, gratitude, and an expression of our sincere hope that Peter will find innovative ways to connect with the mission of IBPA in the future. I look forward to supporting him in this. Taking the position of board chair when Peter vacates on June 30 is Rob Price of Price World Publishing and Gatekeeper Press. Rob began his service on the board of directors in 2014. Since 2015, he has served as treasurer of the board. Rob’s one-year term starts on July 1, 2017, and is renewable for an additional year. He can be reached at RPrice@PriceWorldPublishing.com.
